سیمنتک برنامه Norton AntiBot که برای شناسایی رفتار کدهای مخرب می باشد را منتشر کرد
این نرم افزار که بر مبنای تکنولوژی Sana Security می باشد که با کمی تغییرات در برنامه SONAR سیمنتک که تکنولوژی جدیدی در محصولات سیمنتک می باشد، عمل خواهد کرد.
سیمنتک در این زمینه می گوید که AntiBot یک مکمل برای برنامه آنتی ویروس می باشد و جایگزینی برای آن به حساب نمی آید زیرا که این برنامه ویروس های قدیمی را شناسایی نخواهد کرد.
این برنامه فقط به رفتار شناسی برنامه های دیگر و کدهای مخرب تاکید خواهد داشت که از کجا اجرا می شوند، چه تغییراتی در رجیستری ایجاد می کنند و چه سایت های اینترنتی را مورد هدف قرار خواهند داد. این شرکت همچنین اذعان داشت که این برنامه هیچ تداخلی با ضد ویروس های دیگر نخواهد داشت.
به گفته سیمنتک، از آنجاییکه تکنولوژی SONAR سیمنتک فقط در در هنگام تشخیص ویروس ها عمل خواهد کرد اما در برنامه AntiBot به طور کامل عملکرد تمامی برنامه های دیگر را زیر نظر خواهد داشت.همانطور که در نام این برنامه نهفته است، استفاده عمده این برنامه برای شناسایی شبکه های بوت و سایت های تحت تاثیر آن و شناسایی مراکز کنترل این شبکه ها می باشد.
